Causes of hair loss and its forms The most common form of hair loss is the so-called male pattern hair loss, which we doctors call androgenic alopecia. Alopecia means hair loss and the term androgenic indicates that the male sex hormones are involved in this process. This type of hair loss is hereditary, often not from father to son, but to more distant relatives, and women can also be affected. To whom do we recommend hair transplantation? We usually recommend hair transplantation to those patients whose hair loss is still ongoing but where hair loss is already clearly visible. The procedure can also be recommended in such cases when the development of bald spots occurs only in certain areas (e.g. vertebrae, temple area) or e.g. in women for whom diffuse hair shaking is characteristic. Patients are the best judges of any changes they notice in themselves. In this sense, numerous factors must be taken into account when recommending surgical intervention or when assessing the expected result. Among these, the most common are: -The cause of hair loss (the so-called male hair loss type occurs most frequently) -The extent and shape of the hair loss -The medical history of the patient (e.g. consequences of previous scalp surgery -The quality and characteristics of the hair and scalp -The patient's wishes and expectations What is hair transplantation with follicular units (FUT and FUE)? How is the operation performed? The basis for the procedure is the knowledge of the fact that the hair roots on the back and sides of the head are insensitive to hormonal influences. And so the hair in men with hair loss sometimes even stays in larger areas in the areas mentioned. The hair roots transplanted from here retain their properties, i.e. the transplanted hair roots stick to the new places and hair grows back normally, which does not fall out later. Previous methods transplanted islets with 6-8 or even more hair roots. These or the transplantation of 300-400 grafts in one operation no longer have a right to exist. The modern method of hair transplantation with follicular units has much more to offer: it ensures a completely natural look, there are no visible tufts of hair or annoying scarring after transplantation. After the successful procedure, it is not possible to tell, even at close range, that the hair has been transplanted.
